Full Day Wine and Seafood Tour
Full Day Seafood and Wine Tour (approx 7.5 hours including lunch, Monday to Friday)
A really packed programme for this tour. First we head to the Thau lagoon, where we’ll get an absolutely fascinating tour of an oyster and mussel producer. We can promise you that you will be astonished! This is rounded off by a tasting of the freshest oysters and mussels that you will ever taste, washed down by a glass or two of the local Picpoul de Pinet white wine, the ideal accompaniment to seafood. We’ll then head for a local vineyard where we’ll take a stroll through the vines, discussing grape varieties, “terroir” and the life cycle of the vine, before having a tour of the winery and discovering all the processes involved in making white, red and rosé wines.
There will then be 1.5 hours free time for lunch. The location will depend upon the winery that we will have toured in the morning.
After lunch we will head into the hinterland, and more precisely the vineyards of the Faugères appellation. This is one of the most interesting areas of wine production in the Languedoc, and produces some stunningly rich, spicy and complex reds. Here we will see a huge geophysical contrast with the morning’s vineyards. The area is rugged and beautiful, and some of the landscapes seem to offer an almost impossible challenge to the winegrower. We will visit one of the area’s best wineries, and discover why the area is so highly regarded. You will then be dropped off, no doubt ready for a quick siesta before dinner.
Price: Depending upon the number of people (we can take up to 8) the price varies from €60pp for 5-8 people; €75pp for 4 people, €90pp for 3 people and €130pp for 2 people.
