Where to start? We are convinced that the Languedoc, and in particular the Hérault department, is one of the most innovative wine-producing areas in the world today. A vast amount of this innovation is going on not in the better-known Appellation Contrôlée areas, but in the rather amorphous “Coteaux du Languedoc” AOC and in particular in some of the lesser-known Vin de Pays areas, in particular the Côtes de Thongue and the Coteaux du Libron.

                                                                                  As in our other tours, we  will look at how the  different soils and  climates affect the way  the winemaker works,  and how different grape  varieties react to  different conditions. A  fascinating development  in these areas is the  introduction of grape  varieties which are new  to the area. In our Full-Day Tour, we will visit producers who have gone against the grain, and yet produced some remarkable wines.

Our Full-Day Tour also includes a tasty picnic of local goodies, in the wonderful surroundings of a beautiful 17th century manor house.
