Encircled by the dark green mountains of the Espinousse range, and the towering stone block that is the Caroux, the vineyards of
St. Chinian enjoy a micro-climate which is ideal for the culture of the vine. As in Faugères, the “terroir” is crucial in making the best wines so exceptional, although as we shall see, there are two very distinct areas within the appellation.
During this fascinating tour, we will take in the beautiful village of Roquebrun, a dramatic medieval setting on the banks of the beautiful Orb river, and home to some stunning wines. We will also visit an organic vineyard, where one of our tastings will take place. Organic wines are improving all the time, and this is a really fascinating part of the tour.
